Shailendra Kumar Modak

The steward who carried the family legacy into a wider world.

The legacy flourished further under the stewardship of Shailendra Kumar Modak, the grandson of Surjya Kumar Modak. He was deeply connected to music, known for his patriotic renditions, and remained actively engaged with nationalist and social causes.

After his marriage, inspired and encouraged by his wife Savitri Devi, he developed a serious interest in the art and business of sweet-making. With dedication, entrepreneurial vision, and disciplined craft, he revitalised the Surjya Modak enterprise and guided it into a new phase of growth and recognition.

Through his tireless work, the family's signature sweets moved beyond their local roots and earned admiration from connoisseurs across India and abroad.

International Recognition

A heritage recognised beyond Bengal.

The London Book of World Records certificate honours Suvendu Kumar Modak and recognises the heritage confectionery innovation connected with Sailendra Kumar Modak & Sons.

This recognition is presented as part of the living Surjya Kumar Modak legacy: a story of craft, continuity, and Bengali sweet-making excellence carried forward since 1810.
